I list here in summary fashion my current theological perspective in relevant areas:
- I am a five-point Calvinist and hold to the Canons of Dort, also known as the doctrines of grace.
- I generally hold to the 1689 London Baptist Confession as a valid expression of biblical truth.
- I believe that regeneration, or the new birth, precedes and is the cause/source of saving faith. In other words, we are born again by God’s sovereign distinguishing grace in order that we may believe, not the other way around.
- I generally agree with the “regulative principle of worship.”
- I am a pan-millennialist, knowing that Christ is coming again and it will all pan out in the end.
- I am a complementarian in terms of gender roles, in the family and the church.
- I tend to be a cessationist regarding the sign gifts (miracles, healing, and tongues) — primarily because what I see today as “tongues” and “healing” does not match what Scripture presents.
